Story & Atmosphere
Doc's BBQ, nestled in the heart of Crockett, Texas, stands as a true beacon of authentic Southern barbecue. From the moment you step into their cozy location on E Loop 304, the promise of bold, smoky flavors fills the air. This isn’t just another BBQ joint—Doc's is an experience, a celebration of Texas tradition and community spirit.
One cannot overlook the standout highlights that customers frequently rave about. The house blend sandwiches, layered with tender, perfectly smoked brisket or pulled pork, offer a masterclass in texture and flavor. The bread holds just the right crunch, complementing the moist meat and fresh, crisp pickles and onions. The sausage sandwiches bring a rich, hearty flavor, although some note the skin can be a little tough, a testament to their commitment to artisanal sausage-making.
Side dishes like the broccoli rice casserole and potato salad amplify the meal with comforting, well-executed Southern staples. The lima beans, described by patrons as the best they've ever tasted, add a soulful touch to the plate. Even the peach cobbler delivers a sweet finish, evoking memories of home-cooked Southern desserts. While the banana pudding might fall short of perfection—lacking fresh bananas and feeling pre-packaged—it reflects the brand’s willingness to serve homestyle favorites with care.
Beyond the food, what sets Doc's BBQ apart is its attentive, warm hospitality. Jeremiah and his team embody genuine kindness and responsiveness, as recalled by those who have used their catering service for meaningful events. Their team’s dedication transforms every occasion into a memorable one, ensuring every bite carries the love and care of Texas barbecue culture.
Doc's BBQ is more than smoke and meat. It’s a place where family meals, road trip stops, and special gatherings find their perfect backdrop. Their blend of traditional flavors, fresh ingredients, and heartfelt service makes this Crockett gem a must-visit for BBQ lovers seeking authenticity and comfort in every bite.
“ Not only is this place an incredible restaurant, but their catering service is truly something special. If you’re ever considering BBQ for an event, I would recommend this company a million times over. We reached out to Jeremiah and his team to cater a celebration of life, and words can’t express how grateful we are for everything they did. From the very beginning, Jeremiah was kind, responsive, and so easy to work with. His team went above and beyond in every possible way — not just with the amazing food, but with their care, professionalism, and attention to detail. They provided everything we needed for a full-service experience — buffet equipment, beverages, plates, napkins, utensils, and even delicious desserts. They handled the entire setup and tear-down, which allowed us to be fully present with our family and friends without having to worry about a single thing. The food was absolutely delicious, but what stood out most was the warmth and compassion this team showed throughout the entire process. Jeremiah and his crew truly made a difficult day a little easier, and for that, we are so deeply thankful. ”
“ Husband, myself and two kids stopped in for lunch on our way through town and everything was great. We had 2 house blend sandwiches, a sausage sandwich, a side of broccoli rice casserole and a peach cobbler. Kid 1 had the sausage sandwich and some cobbler, loved both. Kid 2, didn’t want anything and wanted to grab a Whataburger for the road, ended up eating 1/4 of my house blend sandwich, 1/2 of my broccoli cheese casserole and several bites of cobbler, loved everything and didn’t need the Whataburger lol. The staff and owner were super nice and helpful in ordering. Love that they have daily specials to get more bang for your buck. We would definitely return! ”
“ just popped in on my way to Louisiana, got a sliced brisket sandwich with moist meat. Was absolutely wonderful, would go back! went back again and my sandwich was just as good as the first time! ”
“ Normally, a pretty decent visit on most days, but we made the mistake of going near closing time. I Had to get something in my belly to make it the rest of the day, so I braved the elements! Naturally, very limited on options, there was some chopped beef left, but no potatoes, and There were some green beans that she offered as an option, which I was fine with, but she did not serve me any, so I only got to order a sandwich. I wanted to sit and digress for a bit, but no tray was offered, as she mentioned they were about to close. So I was handed my sandwich, asked to pay the $10 something for it and was sent on my way. They take closing time serious around these parts! Be prepared to not get offended if you get less than sub-par service with no smile. ”
“ All the ingredients were cooked to perfection, the texture of the bread, the meat, onions, pickles. Excellent. The only thing that was wrong with it, that it was extremely salty. Not sure if somebody overdid it on that batch of pulled pork or if it’s normally that’s salty but I recommend for Somebody to take a sample and make sure it’s not over salted. Thank you. ”
